Choosing where to stay in Tokyo can feel overwhelming.
Tokyo is enormous, and each neighborhood has a completely different atmosphere.
For most first-time visitors, I recommend choosing a hotel near a major train station.
Here are some of the best areas to consider.
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is one of the most convenient areas for sightseeing.
It has excellent train connections, countless restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and a huge range of hotels.

Asakusa
Asakusa offers a more traditional atmosphere.
The area around Senso-ji Temple is especially popular with visitors looking for a more historic side of Tokyo.
Accommodation can also be more affordable than in some central business districts.
